All The Pretty Colors

This week, I combined My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #267 with their Color Challenge #39 to create this clean and simple birthday card.MFT 39 color and sketch 266

To make this card I started by die cutting the tag and then covering it with cement gray washi tape. I then die cut the happy birthday out of white card stock and layered it over a summer splash blue card stock that coordinated with the card’s base. Using patterned paper that had both cotton candy and wild cherry colored dots to make a banner, I adhered each element to the bright white front panel, then used foam tape on the happy birthday square to make it pop. To complete the card, I added a cute pink bow and lined the envelope with the same polka dot paper I used for the banner to tie everything together.

Sweet and Simple

This week’s One Layer Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge and CASology‘s Valentine cue card challenge were perfect to pair together-kind of like hearts and chocolate! Sweet, sweet, sweet!

SSS one layer CAS valentine

Using the super cute heart stamp from the SSS Feb card kit, I alternated stamping pumice stone, tattered rose, and picked raspberry Distress Inks across the bottom third of a bright white card stock base. I then used another stamp from the kit to stamp Happy Valentine’s day in solid black ink underneath. And finally, to finish, I looped a string of pink baker’s twine through the card and tied it in a sweet little bow.

Heart You!

This weeks Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is all about having a heart, and with Valentine’s Day right around the corner I’m so happy to have the amazing February card kit to help me tell everyone how much I heart them this year!

sss heart

Note: All supplies used for this card came from the Simon Says Stamp February Card Kit.

To make this card I started with a black card stock base and adhered the black and white striped pattered paper as the front panel. I then used a regular sheet of printer paper, cut it into a small square, and folded it to make the tiny envelope before adding it to the card’s corner. After that, I used the adorable heart die to cut hearts out of glittery red paper and glued them down so they appeared to be floating out of the envelope. Lastly, I cut the small ‘Be My Valentine’ out of another sheet of patterned paper and slid it inside.

Walking on Sunshine

This week, I combined the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Ray of Sunshine with the My Favorite Things Sketch #266 Challenge and the result definitely put a smile on my face! So bright and fun! sss ray of sunshine

To make this card, I used a starburst nesting die as well as a circle die set layered together to build the sun. I then added Wink of Stella to the yellow rays and the middle circle for an extra bit of shimmer before adhering the coordinating orange hello. After that, I embossed my bright white front panel with a cute little cloud embossing folder before using foam tape to apply the sun. I also used foam tape to give the stamped sentiment on the bottom of the card dimension and to add some much needed balance to the big sunburst. Finally, I used fun foam to prop the entire front panel up off the sunny cardstock base to complete the look.

Bellini, Anyone?

This week’s My Favorite Things Color Challenge #38 is almost good enough to eat! With colors like Peach Bellini, Lemon Chiffon, and Pure Plum my mouth was watering just putting this card together. MFT Color 38

To start, I die cut the Thanks out of a lemon colored card stock as well as a piece of fun foam. I then glued them together so the sentiment would pop off the Plum colored die cut tag. I adhered a sheet of patterned paper that had varying shades of peach, pink, coral and white to a purple card stock base and then finished it all off with a baker’s twine bow in plum to pull it all together.

Happy Day

This weeks Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge was anything goes! So I decided to go with the SSS’s Birthday Bits stamp set that is too cute for words!sss anything goes

To put this card together I started by stamping the large solid balloon in a baby pink, then used the larger outline balloon and stamped it with hot pink. The balloon string in the set is straight, so when I mounted it to my acrylic block I added the curves so it would look like it was floating around the Birthday Wishes sentiment. (Which is the prettiest font ever!) After stamping the sweet little bow, I mounted the panel to a baby pink CS base then added Wink of Stella to the balloon for a perfect finishing touch!

Cake!

This weeks My Favorite Things Weekly Sketch Challenge #265 reminded me of a big layer cake…and really, who doesn’t love a little cake when it’s time to celebrate? Yum!MFT Sketch

To make this sugary sweet card I started with a hot pink cardstock base and a bright white front panel. I then added washi tape in varying colors and patterns to build the layered cake. I added a bottom layer of glitter tape to act as the platter and also made a small candle and flame out of glitter tape as well. To finish it all off, I added a banner with a heat embossed celebrate sentiment.

U Have My Heart

This weeks Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is all about love and the color red, which helped inspire this special card for my DH!

sss love and red

To begin I embossed my main panel with a wood grain embossing folder from Darice then adhered it to a layer of white and red card stock. Next I die cut a simple red heart from Hero Arts and used a small alphabet stamp set to stamp our initials and a tiny heart onto it like we had carved our initials into a tree. After adding an arrow stamp and a small sentiment to the bottom of the card, also from Hero Arts, I put the heart on with some foam tape to give it dimension. Finally, I added a touch of Wink of Stella to give the card a bit of sparkle and some extra love!
